Hi all, im after some advise if there is any rock climbers, tree arbourists or maybey trucking people, we have recently made our own hanging dome pod chair, and are in the process of making a hanging pod that will hopefully support my partner myself and two year old that we can lay down in with a mozie net at night ( the branch we intend on using is like a tree itself so no issue there).
I have toyed with making my own rope to suspend this pod however dont have access to materials at present and am a bit to keen to test out the pod.
So wondering where i would buy such quality rope to do this job ( or if anyone has any not suitable any more for rock climbing but may be good for this progect.
Its around 3 meters to the branch which im thinking of using 4 lengths (2 each side) weight with pod and 3 of us should be under 200 kg but thought id aim for 200 kg copacity of rope to be safe ( we wont be to high off the ground)
If im using 4 strands to carry 200 kg wiuld that be 50 kg strength of rope?
Also what would be the best material to wrap the rope where it makes contact with the tree (i am thinking of a hessian bag) to stop friction cutting the wrope and protect the tree ( its a cypris tree i think)
Have a good night/day.
Raven
