BVSC has issued a request for community members to register for a Cuttagee Bridge Community Advisory Group. Applications close 15 August. Information is available on the BVSC website (https://facebook.us15.list-manage.com/track/click?u=9030b531e962ad02c68a923c8&id=02c7f3ee28&e=34e977e1dc) .

Interested community members are encouraged to register. Council wants to work with the community to find the best solution for Cuttagee Bridge. The community will have to weigh up the various issues including risk and safety, durability, economics, heritage and tourist values and environmental issues.

It has to be remembered that Council has not yet rescinded their decision to demolish the Bridge. Will this Advisory Group have the option to suggest an alternative solution to a two lane concrete bridge?

With the introduction of this Advisory Group, Council has also advised they no longer consider it appropriate to engage on a one on one basis with interest groups such as the Forum on this issue.

The attached high level impact assessment (https://facebook.us15.list-manage.com/track/click?u=9030b531e962ad02c68a923c8&id=7ea01444a4&e=34e977e1dc) sets out the pros and cons identified to date of a rejuvenated Cuttagee Bridge vs a new concrete two lane bridge..

NSW Maritime has advised that steps are underway to seek tenders for dredging Bermagui Harbour. There are plans for community consultation and no material will be pumped onto Horseshoe Bay Beach. Work is expected to begin in 2022. For more information see the notice to community members from NSW Maritime (https://facebook.us15.list-manage.com/track/click?u=9030b531e962ad02c68a923c8&id=d9d953b5d3&e=34e977e1dc) .

Council is currently considering a Development Application (10-2021-386-1) (https://facebook.us15.list-manage.com/track/click?u=9030b531e962ad02c68a923c8&id=aef3c08f21&e=34e977e1dc) for the subdivision of land in Songlark St (opposite Parbury Ave), Bermagui into 187 residential lots. Council can be contacted for further information on this DA.

Council staff are recommending the Bermagui Field and Game Club at Murrah River Rd have 12 additional shooting days on Sundays from 10am to 5pm, as per Agenda item 8.1 at the upcoming Council Meeting (https://facebook.us15.list-manage.com/track/click?u=9030b531e962ad02c68a923c8&id=ce8706d9d8&e=34e977e1dc) . This means there would be 24 Sunday shooting days per year. Council will consider this matter on Wednesday 4 August.

This issue has significant consequences for Barragga Bay and Murrah residents, Four Winds and Mimosa Winery Restaurant who are all within about 2km of the shooting range. The repetitive shooting noise level all day is difficult for these residents and businesses to cope with.

If you are affected by this issue it is suggested that you write to Council (council at begavalley.nsw.gov.au (mailto:council at begavalley.nsw.gov.au) ) and/or apply to speak before the Council meeting.

Local Government elections have been postponed for all NSW Council areas until 4 December 2021 in response to the current corona virus crisis. More information can be found at the NSW Electoral Commission (https://facebook.us15.list-manage.com/track/click?u=9030b531e962ad02c68a923c8&id=f323b7acaa&e=34e977e1dc) website.

For health reasons Cliff Abbott has decided to take a break from his involvement as volunteer coordinator with the Forum. The committee would like to thank Cliff for the considerable effort he has put in to date.

We could really use one or two additional volunteers to investigate topics of interest to the community. Just a reminder that the role of the Forum is to provide information on community issues and support informed discussion. Where there is an overwhelming community view we communicate that to relevant authorities.
