Become a Volunteer Literacy Tutor at Bermagui School

 

You can make a real difference to local children's lives and happiness.
Youth Educational Support Service, YESS, is seeking new volunteer tutors to
give one and a half hours a week at Bermagui School.  

Working closely with the school's learning support staff, YESS uses
MULTILit, a highly effective program developed by Macquarie University to
provide one-on-one literacy tutoring for students, see www.multilit.com
<http://www.multilit.com> . We provide new tutors a day of MULTILit tutor
training early in the term and on-going support sitting with you while you
are starting off. 

You need no formal background in teaching for this important task, just a
willingness to help children. Tutoring starts in mid-February and continues
during term time. Volunteers usually tutor one specific morning a week, 9.30
to 11am but we can arrange back-up tutors if volunteers need to be away on
any given day.

Over the last ten years, YESS volunteers using MULTILit have achieved
wonderful results in boosting students' literacy skills, enhancing their
confidence, class participation and success at many Far South Coast schools.
