<div dir="ltr"><div><div style="font-size:12.800000190734863px"><p class="MsoNormal"><b>All About Women satellite program – 4 March Bega </b></p><p class="MsoNormal"> </p><p class="MsoNormal">South East Arts is partnering with the Bega Valley Shire Council (BVSC) to bring live sessions from the Sydney Opera House's talks and ideas festival <i>All About Women</i> celebrating International Women's Day. On Sunday 4 March at the Bega Valley Commemorative Civic Centre, the <i>All About Women Satellite Program</i> invites you to reflect on the past and imagine the future of feminism.</p><p class="MsoNormal"> </p><p class="MsoNormal">Anyone can attend this free event from 1.00 to 4.30pm at the Civic Centre to see two headline sessions direct from the Sydney Opera House – Grabbing Back: Women in the age of Trump and #MeToo: the making of a movement. There will also be a local panel discussion featuring women in the arts, facilitated by arts advisor and advocate Helen O’Neil. The panel includes Corinne Gibbons - musician, composer and music teacher, Lisa Herbert – arts project manager<a name="m_6317189278860679335_m_775599980690967340__GoBack"></a> and promoter and Avi Amesbury, ceramic artist and arts administrator.</p><p class="MsoNormal"> </p><p class="MsoNormal">To conclude the program, BVSC will be awarding 5 scholarships to local young women. The Bega Valley’s International Women’s Day Young Women’s Scholarship is offered to encourage young women to reach for their goals, whatever they may be – economic, social or arts. Since entering office, Trump’s administration has eroded the rights of women by worsening conditions for female-dominated, low-income industries and legislating against reproductive rights. Communities of colour have similarly been targeted by proposed immigration laws, education policies, and more. But resistance is springing up. Nasty women are uniting. Trump has inspired conversations, marches, and many, many memes. In fact, he has delivered women a new challenge: how do we respond to the new world order? </p><p class="MsoNormal"> </p><p class="MsoNormal">#METOO: THE MAKING OF A MOVEMENT </p><p class="MsoNormal">Panel |Tarana Burke and Tracey Spicer </p><p class="MsoNormal">Tarana Burke is one of Time Magazine's People of the Year. She also founded Me Too movement in 2007 when she began a campaign to amplify the voices of victims of sexual harassment. Building on her work, actress Alyssa Milano began the hashtag #metoo in October 2017, sparking 12 million posts and reactions in the first 24 hours from women worldwide. Similarly, veteran Australian journalist Tracey Spicer is currently investigating sexual abuse and harassment in the media.
