Subject: [Seedsavers] Bega Valley Garden Zoom - June 17th

Hello Seed Savers and Vegetable Gardners,

Our next Bega Valley Garden Zoom will be at 10am next Saturday 17th June. Please note we're meeting at 10am again!

This session is open to all vegetable growers and seed savers in the Bega Valley to catch up and talk about what we're planting, what we're harvesting and help each other with practical solutions to any growing challenges we're facing. All welcome to join in. You can just listen in or share what you're doing, it's up to you.

We're focussed on putting in onions here at the moment. There is lots of choice of things to harvest from our garden right now. We've particularly been enjoying purple cauliflowers and cabbages. Even some sneaky strawberries and late tomatoes, which is amazing given how much frost we've had here in the last couple of weeks. With Divide & Swap Day coming up in a few weeks we're being reminded of some of the crops we might otherwise forget so we'll be digging some turmeric and yacon for eating this week, and maybe some jerusalem artichokes. We're spoiled for choice in the Bega Valley because right now in our climate we can be harvesting beetroots, carrots, lettuce, kale, collards, broccoli, cauliflower, cabbages, endive, sweet potatoes, potatoes, coriander, parsley, kohl rabi, celery, leeks, parsnip, English spinach, silverbeet, and asian greens like mizuna, bok choi, tatsoi and chinese cabbage and probably more I can't think of as I type. So much food we could be harvesting right now with a little planning. Now's the time to start planning for your spring and summer abundance.
