The Bermagui Community Forum have been requested to circulate the following Cuttagee Bridge survey. We encourage you to complete the survey by end of October.

A group of Bermagui community members are working to save the iconic one-lane timber based  bridge at Cuttagee. They are concerned that Bega Valley Shire Council wants to demolish the bridge so as to turn Tourist Road 9 into a freight corridor, with more heavy freight vehicles using the coast road from Tilba to Tathra through Bermagui. This poses a threat to all the other one lane-bridges on the road.

Council’s current policy is to demolish Cuttagee Bridge and replace it with a ‘two-lane concrete structure’.

We’d like to hear from you about what you think of these proposed changes. Please take the survey below and share the link with family, friends and neighbours to ensure we can hear from a wide range of locals and visitors to the region. They plan to collect survey results and share them with the Council before the end of this year.

Council are in the final stages of formation of the Cuttagee Bridge Community Advisory Group, with an announcement of members of the Group expected in next few days. Ideally Council wants the Group to meet on a face to face basis.

Council wants to work with the community to find the best solution for Cuttagee Bridge. The community will have to weigh up the various issues, including risk and safety, durability, economics, heritage and tourist values and environmental issues.
