Good morning all

Please see an invitation below from Samantha Trenoweth, a journalist from Are Media. Her story will be featured in the Women's Weekly, a less regular platform for such an important social issue and I think it is very worthwhile for issues such as this to be addressed through such avenues.

Samantha's number is 0415271482, email Samantha.Trenoweth at aremedia.com.au<mailto:Samantha.Trenoweth at aremedia.com.au> and she is happy to chat any time of the day or night, and over Easter.

Yours in renewal

Veronica

Hi Cecile.

It was lovely to chat with you again just now. As discussed, I'm putting together a story about women and homelessness as part of Are Media's Unhoused campaign. I'm hoping to paint a picture of the very diverse ways in which women can be affected by homelessness, and one of those is through the impacts of natural disasters. I am hoping you might be able to find someone who would be prepared to talk to me, and perhaps also be photographed, who is either still experiencing homelessness (or has experienced significant homelessness) as a result of the fires. This obviously doesn't mean they've necessarily been sleeping rough. They might have lived with friends and family, in shelters or refuges, in a caravan or a tent on their property. But they still don't have a home.

I think it's really important to draw attention that the fact that after the media caravan moves on, it can take years and years and years for people get settled again, and for communities to recover. Decades probably.

The thing is, I do need to have this story finished by the end of next week, so I don't have long to track someone down. It would be great if you could pass my request along to Veronica or anyone else who you think might be able to help.

Here's a link to our Unhoused campaign to give you an idea about what's going on. https://www.homestolove.com.au/unhoused-campaign-are-media-2022-23580

 Very best wishes,

 Samantha
