Hi Tilba community
I refer to my email below.
We need to confirm numbers for our Biosphere Reserve forum on Monday 17
October.
This is an important community issue and we would really appreciate your
support and attendance if you can attend.
We have speakers from the ANU, Sunshine Coast Regional Council and
Eurobodalla Council. So it is a great way for you to learn more about the
topic.
It is hopefully going to create some media attention in the coming days.
Please confirm your attendance to me if you haven't done so already.
Thanks very much.
Cheers

Subject: A Biosphere Reserve for Tilba District
To: <Tilbacommunity at scpa.org.au>
Hi Tilba Community
You will recall that last year the Tilba District Chamber of Commerce
undertook community consultation and prepared a Strategic Plan for the
Tilba District, which was finalised earlier this year. A summary of that
Strategy is attached.
I am Chair of the Landscape Subcommittee which is one of the five
workstreams from the Strategy. One of the community outcomes from the
Strategy which is allocated to our Subcommittee is to "Undertake steps
towards establishing a Biosphere Reserve for the Tilba District".
This action item arose from the strong community concern for the protection
and enhancement of the natural environment of the Tilba District whilst
balancing the need to be able to live, work and play in our area in a
sustainable way. There is a strong feeling that we have an obligation to
ensure that future generations can enjoy what we experience today.
We see a Biosphere Reserve as a potential way to achieve the community's
goal and we are inspired by the work which other communities and Councils
have undertaken to become accredited, particularly on the Sunshine Coast in
South East Queensland. We are holding a community forum to discuss this
idea in Central Tilba on Monday 17 October. A copy of our flyer is
attached. You will see that we have some excellent speakers who will be
able to explain the idea and lead discussion.
Given what is happening in the development of other areas of Eurobodalla
Shire and in similar areas around Australia, we think that this is a topic
of importance to all who live and work in this area. If you agree, we would
welcome you coming along to learn more and to share your views. RSVPs are
essential.
Cheers
