SCPA supports and promotes sustainable food production and regenerative agriculture in the south east region of NSW and those providing services that support ecologically sound production practices.
We work with members to develop their initiatives and activities by promoting these through media activities and SCPA publications.
"Thanks for your SCPA e-newsletter. I have sold my Dexter calves in one lot and now have found a baby goat. You should charge commission! (Joking ...) Good karma for you guys. Thanks again!"
Will Douglas, Moruya
SCPA provides a means by which members can connect with like-minded people at SCPA events including markets, courses, volunteering events, field days and activities initiated by members. these activities help members to create the kind of community they want to live in.
SCPA Projects bring together active groups that can inspire and support one another.
SCPA forges partnerships with local organisations with similar objectives, including government agencies or other community groups.
"A distinct advantage in partnering with SCPA is that we have instantly multiplied our access to the many other bodies, agencies, groups and community members that they are engaged with. This makes our job of taking, and responding to, the economic and socila pulse of the community at large so much easier."
David Grainger, Bega TAFE General Education Faculty
Publications such as SCPA News (distributed by email) provide education, marketing and networking opportunities for local communities.
SCPA actively promotes members' interests and activities and is frequently approached by buyers seeking produce or services.
"Bega Valley Shire Council recently approached SCPA wanting referrals for local producers to provide bulk vegetable seedlings for its Street Share program. The response was quick and has provided us with a number of local businesses able to provide a very good range of products that might have otherwise been sourced from outside the local area."
Liz Brennan, Street Share Facilitator, Healthy Communities Initiative, BVSC
